Join us for worship services and other fellowship gatherings this Advent and Christmas season!
Advent Worship Services
Advent is a time of expectant, active WAITING. We remember what it was like for those who were awaiting the coming of the Messiah, and we embrace peace, hope, joy and love as we anticipate Jesus’ return.
Sunday, November 28, 10 am: Waiting in PEACE (Jeremiah 29:1, 4-14)
Sunday, December 5, 10 am: Waiting in HOPE (Ezekiel 37:1-14)
Sunday, December 12, 10 am: Waiting in JOY (Isaiah 55:1-13)
Sunday, December 19, 10 am: Waiting in LOVE (John 1:1-18)
God’s people learn to wait with God in the present moment. Because that is the only place God is found. The past with its regrets is irretrievably gone. The future with its what-ifs is out of our control. But now, right now, it is possible to be with God. It is possible to wait and say yes to God in what is. Waiting is where we learn to let go our timing in this traffic, our disappointment in this decision, our hurt in this comment. Waiting is where we learn to let go of our control and expectations, and trust that God is good no matter what is happening.
Waiting is the crucible where we develop a mellow and forgiving heart.
-Calhoun, Spiritual Disciplines Handbook, p. 139
Our Worship Director, Desiree Robertson, has put together a playlist of music and spoken word that expresses this attitude of waiting, in a variety of circumstances. You can find it on Spotify or YouTube.
Christmas Eve Service of Lessons and Carols
Friday, December 24, 5 pm: Join us in person or via YouTube live stream for special music, singing of hymns, and reading of Scripture during this very special service. Sign up here to read Scripture, or here to provide music for our Christmas Eve worship gathering.
Christmas Celebration Service & Cookie Exchange
Sunday, December 26, 10 am: Join us for a family-style worship service featuring some of our favorite Christmas songs! Bring your instruments and join in! We’ll also have fun instruments available for you to use. We’ll sing some of our Christmas favorites from the blue hymnal and together celebrate Christ’s birth in other ways as well. Wear your favorite Christmas sweater! Also, bring some leftover Christmas cookies and participate in our Christmas Cookie Exchange!
Christmas Card Fund
Take part in Edgebrook Covenant’s Christmas Card Fund! Instead of sending Christmas cards to individuals or families within our church, bring or send one card to the church addressed to our congregation. Then the money you save on cards and postage (or any other amount the Lord would lead you to give) can be contributed to our 2021 Christmas Card Fund. This year’s fund will be evenly divided between:
- The Unalakleet Covenant Church in Unalakleet, AK (where former Edgebrook Covenanter Nick Bruckner serves as pastor), providing funds for the rebuilding of the home of one of their congregants, Doris, whose was destroyed by fire.
- Edgebrook Covenanters Ben & Emily Bruckner, to support their ministry with the Christian Academy of Japan (located in Tokyo).
Office Closed for Christmas
Please note that our office will be closed for the holidays from Christmas Eve through New Year’s Day. Staff will be working remotely and available via email/cell phone. We’ll re-open for normal office hours on Tuesday, January 4, at 10 am.
